WE ARE NOW OPEN!
Dear Patient Families of Valencia Children’s Dental Group and Mulcahey Orthodontics,
We have missed all of you so very much, and we hope that this letter finds you and your family well. Everyone has been impacted in some form by the current Covid-19 situation and we are sure that everyone is looking forward to being able to resume regular activities, including visiting the dentist! As we venture into this next season, we do want you to know that as always, our commitment to your safety remains a top priority.
Anyone who has visited our office has been able to see that proper infection control is a very important part of our practice. Keeping our patients and our staff safe while providing quality care has always been a part of what we do.
Our office has always followed infection control recommendations made by our governing authorities, including the American Dental Association (ADA), U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as well as their state components. We have been diligently following the activities of these agencies in order to stay abreast of any new information. We have also been making physical adjustments to our office and our procedures to reduce the presence of any aerosols in our office, from ordering Surgically Clean Air air purifiers to filter and disinfect the air, to adding additional purification systems for the water lines, to changing clinic flooring to improve our ability to clean, to specialty sealed keyboards and mice in the clinic to eliminate hiding places for germs. Our protocols have also been carefully examined to make whatever adjustments we can to mitigate any risks.
With all of this in mind you will see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We hope that you will bear with us as we make the necessary adjustments to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Patient Screening – You will be asked to answer screening questions both when the appointment is confirmed and again right before the patient is asked to enter the office.
Pre-visit Brushing – Our tooth-brushing station is closed. We are asking that all patients, dental and orthodontic, do a thorough job brushing their teeth prior to arrival for their appointments. Excessive plaque will make our job more difficult.
Virtual Waiting Room – Our waiting room is closed for the time being. We are asking that when you arrive, you text the office from your car at 661-294-1800. Our staff will call you when we are ready to bring the patient into the office and review the screening questions. We will then invite the patient into the office, where the patient will have his/her temperature taken, use hand sanitizer, and be escorted directly to the treatment area. Parents are asked to wait in the car unless the patient requires help due to age or maturity, and in that case only one adult will be allowed in. All people entering the building must wear their own mask. If you forget, a mask can be purchased for $1.
Reduced Schedule and Social Distancing – During this time we have adjusted our schedule to reduce overlap of patients as well as to ensure social distancing protocols in the clinic. Consequently, there are likely to be fewer options available for scheduling appointments in the immediate future.
We are looking forward to seeing you again, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have about how we are striving to keep all of our patients safe. We have a detailed record of every patient whose appointment had to be cancelled over the last couple of months and we will be calling to resume care. We are working methodically to schedule everyone, but if you have concerns please contact our office at 661-294-1800. We are also available for any dental emergencies, including dental pain, dental trauma, or dental infection.
Thank you for being a part of our dental family. We value each and every one of you, and we are excited to see you again.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kim, Dr. Mulcahey and all of the VCDG staff
